Quick Tip: What the Heck is Your Circles?

On the surface, it’s pretty simple: when sharing a post, you can choose to share it public, to specific circles or people, to "Extended Circles" or to “Your Circles.” But if you assumed that Your Circles included all your circles, you’d be wrong.

The default: Circles minus Following

By default, sharing to “Your Circles” will share a post with everyone you have in circles, except for those in your “Following” circle. This makes a lot of sense - you probably don’t want to share your vacation photos with Britany Spears and Hugh Jackman.

What if you’ve deleted the “following” circle, or want to have multiple circles that you’re “just following?” Luckily, it’s easy to adjust which circles are included under the Your Circles umbrella.

Customize Your Circles

From the Google+ home page, click the Settings cog in the upper right hand corner and select “Settings.”  Scroll down until you see “Your Circles,” and select “Customize”

Here you'll see a list of your circles with checkboxes. Just check the ones you want to be included in Your Circles, and uncheck the ones that you just want to follow. It's that easy!
