Google+ Hangouts on Air Shopping app, the future of online shopping?

The next step in online buying is here, and it's via Google+ Hangouts On Air! Diane von Fürstenberg is the first to showcase a new Hangouts app with features that include the ability to buy products, browse trends, and share directly from the Hangout.

This app has the potential to push Hangouts on Air to the next level. Google has been steadily focusing development on Hangouts by adding new features and improving video quality. With the robust features in this newest addition, any retailer can take advantage. Check out the video below to see it in action:


So, how does it work? It's an integration of two products, Hangouts and Google Shopping. You are able to access the items to shop if you're in the Hangout, watching it live, or even watching it recorded. Just like the Live Q&A app for Hangouts, the Shopping app is only viewable on Google+ for now. You can still view the Hangout on Air on YouTube, but you will not be able to see the Shopping app portion of the Hangout. To try it out on a recorded Hangout on Air, visit the Google+ post.

Google+ and Google Shopping are using a Google+ marketing campaign to introduce the new app including multiple Hangouts on Air and a hashtag, #shopthehangout. Today, is the second Hangout on Air using the app. It's going to be with another fashion designer, Rebecca Minkoff. See her promotional video below:
