YouTube's Google+ notification symbol finally updated, bugs included

After many months of lagging behind the rest of Google's products, YouTube has finally updated to the new Google+ notification bell, playfully known as Mr. Jingles. Unfortunately, it also came with a rather bothersome bug.

Previously, YouTube still retained the red box notification system. It is rather odd why it took YouTube so long to move into the new Google+ notification system, but it's glad to see the change. Unfortunately, YouTube still does not have the navigation "grid" button to make navigating to Gmail, Google+, and the rest of Google's products easy. It never had "black bar" navigation previously, so it appears Google wants to keep YouTube fairly separate from the rest of Google for now.
YouTube Google+ notification bell
There does appear to be a small bug in the new notification symbol on YouTube. The bell doesn't actually tell me when I have a new notification. Currently, the bell is filled and marked with a "1" for me on every other Google property because I have a new notifications. However, on YouTube, as you see in the image above, the bell is incorrectly telling me that my notifications are "empty." I'm expecting that this is just a bug, albeit a fairly big bug, that will be fixed in time. In the mean time, the bell brings some consistency to Google's products, but it's rather useless on YouTube.

Is anyone else experiencing the same bug on the new notification bell on YouTube?
