Google further promoting the use of profile photos to new users

Google are taking steps to further promote and persuade new users who have yet to upload a profile photo to do so on their next sign in.

Google+ already shows a profile setup card in the stream for new users, which allows the user to fill in their profile step-by-step with a profile completeness indicator.

It appears that the company is going one further by redirecting the user to a page with a large graphic along with the title "Put a face to your name". The graphic displays a grid of example profile photos behind the usual upload box which appears automatically.

The new promotion appears to be a time-based reminder as we couldn't get it to show on our account when we logged in. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see what Google is doing to welcome and guide new users.
