YouTube comments powered by Google+ begins roll out

Today, Google is beginning a rollout which overhauls the YouTube commenting system with Google+ integration and more.

The news comes six weeks after the initial announcement with new features that both video creators and viewers will benefit from, including a new feature which pushes relevant comments to the top, thanks to intelligent algorithms. Improved comment moderation is also coming comment creators' way.

What we're really interested in is the Google+ integration that comes with the YouTube comments overhaul, and there's plenty of it. You will soon be able to +mention people in the comments, bringing them in to the conversation. Circles come into play too, the overhaul allows you to choose the scope of your comment, be it 'Public', 'Your circles' or select people, it's up to you!

This should help push better engagement at the same time as driving low-quality and spam comments down. I can't wait.

Of course, users wanting to share a thought on a video will have to connect their account to Google+, but that won't be a problem if you're reading this.

The full rollout starts this week, but it could be a while before everyone gets to see the good stuff.

Excited about the upcoming G+ focused YouTube goodness? What's your favourite new feature?
