Google+ link posts reverted back to old design

After much excitement by Google+ users over the new look, the design for Google+ link posts has been reverted back to the smaller thumbnails and titles.

What the Google+ team giveth, the Google+ team taketh away. The new design of link posts on Google+ was receiving all positive reviews, and many people were searching for the right image size to make use of it. However, less than 3 days from the new design rolling out, we've been reverted back to the older design with smaller thumbnails and titles like below.
Link posts design reverted.
Hopefully it is only a minor absence as the team works to perfect the design which did have some issues such as no preview of the new design before sharing and inconsistencies in the inclusion of description text. However, for now we are stuck with the old design which seems looks even worse now that we know how beautiful it could look.

UPDATE: A Software Engineer Manager on Google+, +Wayne Crosby, has noted in the comments of +Guy Kawasaki's post that the team did revert the feature back. However, he also said that it should be back on Monday.

Why did you think the design has been reverted? Let us know in the comments!
