[Update] Animated GIF Profile Photos Now Supported

In yet another update today, users can now upload an animated profile photo, thanks to extended GIF support on Google+.

 The change, announced by Googler +Matt Steiner, allows greater customisation for users, and makes profiles even more personal.

Cover photos have had animated GIF support for a while now, so it was about time Google turned on this functionality for all to use.

It is worth noting that animated profile photos will display correctly on both the desktop web and the mobile apps.
