Google releases "Save to Drive" button

The Google Drive team today announced a slick new way to allow users to save files directly to their Google Drive with the new "Save to Drive" button. With just a few lines of code, any website owner can add the button to their site, similar to adding the ubiquitous +1 button.

For website visitors wishing to save a file, all they have to do is click the button. If they're already signed into Drive, the file will show up in their "My Drive" folder shortly. If you're a heavy Drive user or using a cloud-centric device like a Chromebook, this could prove a very handy feature.

Though not strictly Google+ related, we've had a chance to play with the new button and so long as you have your own hosting for files, implementing it couldn't be easier. We'll have a step by step guide for adding the Save to Drive button later today, but for now you can check out the official documentation.

What do you think about the Save to Drive button? Have any cool ideas for how it might be used? Let us know in the comments!
