New features for Hangouts in the workplace

Google is rolling out new features to Hangouts for Google Apps customers. Updates include a global address list, updated settings and more.

Here's what's new:

Global address list

With the Global Address List, employees can start typing the name of anyone in their organisation and auto-complete will help you find that person. Recent conversations will sit at the top of the conversations list, so there's no more need for endless searching.

New settings

The settings have been updated with several major additions, one of which gives admins the ability to customize which features in Hangouts are available to which employees (this includes video and audio chat too). Admins can also decide to make Hangout chats internal-only, as well as disabling history by default.

Support

Support has been improved as part of the recent updates to enterprise Hangouts, meaning phone support is now 24/7, bringing it up to the same standard of support as Google Talk.
