Google+ for Android updated to v4.3 with plenty of Photos improvements

In the first Google+ for Android update of 2014, version 4.3 packs a boatload of Photos improvements including brand new filters and editing tools, improvements to browsing and more.

Editing photos has gotten an overhaul in this photo-focused version of Google+, with Snapseed-inspired creative tools and filters at your disposal for making your snaps look great. My personal favourite filter introduced is HDR Scape, which can really make your pictures pop. Other tools that you may find useful are crop, rotate and Auto, which tries its best to improve your photos based on varying factors. The amount of work Auto does for you changes based on the settings, which you have a choice of "Off", "Normal" and "High".
A handy little dialogue pops up when you open a photo after installing Google+ v4.3
A vast array of editing tools are available for you to tweak your image to perfection
Cross-device photo editing for Google+ is now a thing, and it's fantastic. Non-destructive photo editing is the "proper" term for the feature, which allows you to start touching up a photo on one device (let's say your phone) and continue where you left off on your tablet. Don't sweat it if you've gone a bit too nuts with those vintage filters, you can revert back to the photo's original state with a tap of the button, on whichever device you like. Simple!

Photo browsing has been made a little easier in this update with a new "All" view, which displays the snaps that are on your phone or backed up in the cloud.

"If your library is really large (> 10s of thousands of photos), the app won’t show all your photos initially." - +Todd Kennedy

If you have a large library, you may not see all of your photos here, but that is due to change in the coming weeks as Google adds support. We'll let you know as soon as that happens.

Like on Google+ for the desktop, scrolling through your library has been improved, and sometimes it's the little things that count. Instead of frantically swiping your finger across the screen to wade through, a new slider will appear to the right of the screen, which makes for faster and more precise browsing.
Give the new slider for a spin, we think you'll like it
If you're not big on photos, unfortunately there's not much new in regards to the other parts of the Google+ app, so hopefully the next update will focus more on improvements other than Photos. That said, there is a gorgeous new animation when sharing a post, so do make sure to check that one out.
