The innovative Auto Awesome feature creates fun versions of your photos and videos (if met with certain criteria) and 'gifts' them to you via a Google+ notification. With today's addition of animated hearts, just snap a picture of you and your valentine smooching and when Auto Backup (make sure this is turned on) completes, you should get notified of your extra loved-up Auto Awesome. We've done some brief testing and it appears that this Auto Awesome will trigger with photos of people hugging too.
