Post pinning feature on Google+ Communities now live

Over the weekend, we spotted a yet-to-be-enabled post pinning feature on the changelog for version 4.3 of the Android Google+ app. Today, the feature has gone live for both the Google+ mobile apps and the desktop web.

Pinning posts on Google+ has long been desired by our readers and the wider public, so today's announcement will make many people's Monday. As you'd expect, a pinned post will be moved to the top of the community stream, giving the post more exposure.
Pinned posts are easily spotted
Both community owners and moderators have the ability to pin a post, which can be done by heading to the drop down menu and selecting "Pin post". During our brief testing, the amount of posts that can be pinned to a community at a time is limited to 1, but hopefully in the future we will see this limit increased.

Pinned posts are useful for a variety of reasons, such as pinning community rules and guidelines, or for making announcements that relate to the community. They allow moderators and owners to highlight any post they deem important. The post is marked by a push pin icon and "pinned by moderator" text in order to let community members know that the post is in fact pinned to the top of the community's stream.

The highly-requested new feature is currently rolling out over the course of the day, so no need to panic if you don't see it yet.
