Minor update brings more detailed, specific notifications

The way notifications are displayed has been tweaked to give better clarity, thanks to an update that is being pushed to Google+ on the web and mobile apps.

Notifications have always been more confusing than they needed to be, displaying the type and amount of engagement per notification with little other clue as to what you're actually being notified about. For me, I'd have to click on most notifications I see to understand that my content either got +1'ed, mentioned or something else. As of yesterday, that way of handling notifications has vanished.

Thanks to a recent update, notifications are now more detailed and specific, and post previews have been moved up to a more prominent position, making it easier to see what type of engagement you've received, without having to click into the notification to see what's what. Now that's a lot easier to understand than "10+ +1's, Mentions".

Changes Headed to Google+ Apps

The improvements made to notifications are already in the process of being pushed out to Google+ for Android server-side, meaning you'll see the changes without having to update your app. I assume that iOS users will see the update in a similar manner, or in an updated version coming soon.

Thanks for the tip +Derek Ross
