Google Analytics now available in the dashboard for Google+ Pages

The long-requested support for Analytics in Google+ is finally here in the form of a widget on your Google+ page dashboard, but it's probably not what you're expecting...

Rather than analytics for your actual Google+ pages been available (which would have been nice), today's update has come along to add a widget showing you visitor data for your website, which of course you can already access elsewhere.

The widget is unfortunately rather basic, but you can check new visits, unique visitors and pageviews for your Google+ linked website within the network without having to head elsewhere. Though the at-a-glance information available for Google Analytics in the dashboard will be useful for some, there's a link which will take you directly to the audience overview on the Analytics website itself.

Enabling the Analytics Widget

If you have a website and would like to see website analytics in the Google+ page dashboard but haven't already set it up, make sure you link your site with your +page and head to Google Analytics to set up a property for your website. Some useful information on setting up a property can be found on the Google Support pages for Analytics. From there, head to your Dashboard (you can find it in the Google+ navigation menu) and you should hopefully see the widget there, alongside your YouTube statistics, Sign-In activity (if enabled) and more.

We'd love to know your thoughts on the Analytics for dashboard update.
