"People you know" card added to Hangouts page

A "People you know" card has been added to the Hangouts page on the web version of Google+.

The card lists several people in your circles that you haven't struck up a discussion with via Hangouts, Google's instant messaging and video calling service. Next to their names are "Start conversation" buttons, which upon clicking will open that person's chat window, as you'd expect.
The "People you know" shows you a few people that you know, of course
This recent update compliments the other two cards: Hangouts On Air and Video Hangouts, but I still think the page isn't all that useful, but the new "People you know" card is a sign that the Google+ team are working on it.

To check out the new card for yourself, just tap on "Hangouts" from the Google+ navigation menu on the left. Alternatively, go to plus.google.com/hangouts.

What are your thoughts on the new card? Will it tempt you into reconnecting with your old school/college friends and family?
