The Google+ Photos app for Chrome OS users has been available to download since late last summer, but hasn't had any notable updates since then, that is until today...
Now, even when closing the app after connecting a camera, phone or storage card, it will continue uploading the photos found on those devices to your Auto Backup folder (you can change this in the settings). This means you can continue with whatever you're doing without fear that your recent snaps aren't being backed up.
You'll be able to check the status of the upload via a progress bar in which you pause at any time. A nice touch is that you'll get notified upon completion of the upload.
There aren't any other visible changes that we can see after a brief look at the freshest release, but we'll keep an eye out in case we do spot anything else.
