More ways to express gender identity in Google+ Profiles update

Updated 'Basic Information' tab
An update to Google+ Profiles started rolling out yesterday which supports an infinite number of ways to express gender identity, thanks to a freeform text field.

Google+ has always had options to reflect what users would like to share in regards to gender identity, from "Male", "Female" and "Other", for those who don't fit into the traditional gender labels and those who don't want to declare their gender publicly.

+Rachael Bennett, Google has announced the addition of a fourth menu item: "Custom", which will bring up a freeform text field, effectively allowing an infinite number of ways to express gender identity. Subsequently, "Other" has been to "Decline to state".

Of course, as has always been the case and still is, you can limit who can see your gender thanks to Google+'s native granular privacy controls.
