The latest version (v4.5.10 for those counting) comes with an indicator for in-app purchases as well as changes to the way reviews look.
Being Google Plus Daily, we're more excited about new features and improvements that are powered by Google+. So let's get started:
New: Activity Feeds
Heavily Plus-influenced, and that's fine with us. |
You can view +1 activity within the Play Store, and reviews and ratings too. These are all displayed on tappable tiles which take you to the respective item on Google Play. Look above however, and you'll see the user's Google+ profile and cover photo with a handy button to the right, taking you to their profile on the Google+ app.
You can view your own Play Store activity by opening the navigation menu and tapping on your name. To view other peoples', tap on their profile photo where you see it, whether that is on a review, or a recommendation within Google Play.
When viewing for the first time, a handy card will display, giving you a brief description of the new feature, which says:
"Welcome. Your shared Google Play activity, like reviews and +1s, is shown here. Rate the apps and content you love to share your recommendations with the world!"
Well said if I must say!
I should note that people who visit your activity feed will only be able to see the content you've publicly rated, reviewed and +1'ed.
Aside from what I've already filled you in about, there isn't much left to say about the new shared activity feature present in the latest Play Store. The future does look promising for this though, so I wouldn't be surprised to see this further fleshed out in future versions.
Improved: +1s and Reviews
Circles of the people in your circles. Circleception? |
First off, the +1s made by the people in your circles which show up next to the +1 button now have circular-cropped profile photos instead of the old square ones. This change, however minor it is, is now more consistent with the circular thumbnails found across Google+ on the web and mobile apps, and the web version of the Play Store too.
The most exciting change though is that reviews by the people in your circles are surfaced to the top, allowing you to see what the people you follow think of the content, rather than sifting through strangers' ratings and reviews.
Reviews you care about are surfaced to the top, thanks to the Google+ integration |
