The Google+ Photos app for Chrome will be discontinued on 21 July 2015, following the launch of Google Photos today.
Google Photos was announced today, which is essentially a new and improved home for your photos, but without the Google+ integration. That's nothing to worry about though, all your previously backed-up photos are still in the cloud and switching to the newly updated Google Photos app (Google Play, App Store) is fast and trouble-free.
As Google+ Photos is no longer a thing, the dedicated Chrome app will be discontinued in July 2015. The alert is displayed when running the app, and suggests to users that they can continue to upload and view photos by visiting photos.google.com.
More information on the recent changes can be found in the Google+ Help Centre.
